Kara Haas

Kara Haas, M.D., M.P.H., FACS is a Director of Worldwide Strategic Regulatory Affairs Medical Devices and Diagnostics at Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Haas is an experienced general surgeon and critical care physician with 15 years of experience within the medical device and diagnostic sector.

Dr. Haas earned her B.A. in chemistry from Duke University and her M.D., M.P.H from Tulane University. She completed her residency at the University of Washington in Seattle and Postdoctoral Fellowships at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Howard Hughes Medical Institute, with a focus on the molecular biology of Tumor Necrosis Factor and G-proteins.

Before joining Johnson & Johnson in 1999, Dr. Haas practiced general surgery and critical care medicine in the U.S. Air Force and in a hospital-based university affiliated practice.

During her tenure at J&J she has had broad cross functional experience and responsibilty for Medical Education, Global Marketing, Evidence Based Medicine, Health Care Compliance, Safety, Clinical, Medical and Regulatory Affairs.

Dr. Haas is a board certified general surgeon, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a member of multiple professional medical societies. A former Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force Medical Corps, Dr. Haas graduated with honors from Duke University, Tulane University School of Medicine, and Tulane School of Public Health.

She holds a faculty appointment at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland in the Department of Surgery.
