Tammy York-Day

Tammy York Day, Chief Operating Officer of Delta Dental of Kentucky, works closely with the CEO and executive team to design and implement strategies to achieve Delta Dental of Kentucky’s business goals. She oversees all operations functions of the organization, including the executive staff of sales and marketing, underwriting, information services, claims and customer service.

She developed the strategy and provides leadership and management for DDKY’s charitable initiative, Making Smiles Happen which is aimed at promoting and improving oral health throughout the Commonwealth, as well as providing charitable support to a variety of nonprofit partners in the surrounding communities. In 2015 and 2016, approximately $6 million was awarded to over 120 charities by the Making Smiles Happen initiative.

Tammy’s passion centers around ‘Conscious Capitalism’ and the tie between philanthropic initiatives and corporate strategy. Her charity endeavors are extensive outside of Delta Dental of Kentucky. She co-founded the Unbridled Eve Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization which benefits many charitable causes through the annual Unbridled Eve Derby Gala and other events targeted to promote the Foundation and Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Tammy has also held board leadership positions with civic organizations such as the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes. She is currently a board member for the Kentucky State Police Foundation and the Louisville Fund for the Arts. In 2006 she was honored with the George W. Bush President’s Volunteer Service Award, and has previously been a Community Health Charities Volunteer of the Year.

Tammy’s professional affiliations include membership in the Kentucky Association of Health Underwriters, in 2016, she was named in Business First’s ‘20 People to Know in Insurance’ and in 2015 was honored with the Nfocus Empowering Woman Award. She was also profiled in the book 100 Fascinating Women of Louisville and is a Founding Partner of the Louisville Innovation Summit.

In 2015, Tammy graduated from the Duke Fuqua School of Business with a Global Executive MBA, and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing.
